In October of 2000, GCR deployed its class 4 switch. Our switch is located in South Boston, VA and is interconnected with Sprint's South Boston DMS-100 end office switch, and Verizon's Danville and Lynchburg 5E tandem switches. GCR is currently offering ISDN PRI service targeted towards ISPs. PRI service from GCR currently covers the South Boston, Volens, Danville, Lynchburg and Lovingston, VA exchanges. GCR offers collocation services that allow ISPs to place their own RAS equipment inside our South Boston facility. Collocation of RAS equipment allows ISPs to accept PRIs inside our office and eliminate the local loop charge for each PRI. The ISP then uses a single T1 to backhaul this traffic to either the Internet or one of its own POPs elsewhere. This arrangement allows an ISP to cover most of LATA 250 at a great savings over traditional ILEC PRI service.  Complete ISP wholesale packages are also available.
